Job Description
Foreign owned Electronic / Engineering Company manufacturing Fibre Optic / Copper cable systems and precision components for export, requires a Project Engineer - Mechanical
The candidate would lead a new project in manufacture of “connector parts”, being motivated to solve problems while establishing and adhering to deadlines.
The candidates’ responsibilities will be as follows, but not limited to.
Reading brochures and engineering drawings to create scope and scope of work.
Working with purchasing dept. & vendors for sourcing material, tool & machine selection.
Oversee the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of machinery and equipment.
Collaborate with production teams to enhance manufacturing processes and efficiency.
Conduct research and analysis to optimize product performance and cost-effectiveness.
Ensure compliance with quality, safety and process standards in all engineering processes.
Prepare technical documentation, reports, and specifications.
The candidate should possess the following.
Degree in Mechanical / metallurgical Engineering or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Manufacturing process knowledge (CNC machining, milling, turning, drilling and grinding)
Knowledge of CNC programming and experience in optimizing CNC programs to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
Knowledge of materials (Aluminium alloys, stainless steel, bronze, composites & surface coatings/ finishes)
Experience in selection and optimization of cutting tools, fixtures, and work-holding devices.
Proficient in reading engineering drawings, using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor for 2D/3D design, with a strong understanding of GD&T, CMM.
Capable of fluently speaking and writing in English.
Excellent research, analytical, problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
The ability to grasp situations quickly in order to find solutions, and the enthusiasm to stay organised, read around the subject while creating and working with a plan.
Non-essential added advantages;
Independent mode of travel.
Hands-on experience in machine operations, maintenance and/or troubleshooting.
Knowledge of additional design tools and software besides AutoCAD and Inventor
Necessary initial guidance will be given, after which the candidate should have the ability to attend to projects independently and responsibly.
