Job Description
VAM Systems is currently looking for Linux System Administrator for our Bahrain operations with the following skill set &terms and conditions:
Qualification and Experince
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology,
System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience
required
5-10 years ofsystem administration
experience
System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, Solaris or
other network related fields are a plus
Working knowledge of virtualization, VMWare, Linux, Solaris, HPE Storage,
Backup products or equivalent
Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking
protocols
Experience with scripting and automation tools
A proven track record of developing and implementing IT strategy and plans
Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively managing systems and IT
operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage,
data protection, and disaster recovery protocols
Responsibilities:
•Involve in designing, implementing, securing and maintaining the computer systems for its test, development and production environment
•Identify and analyze the issues that hamper the performance of the system, and to work in close coordination with the product development team and recommend the solutions for the issues
•Do all the supporting tasks that are included, managing source control systems, virtual servers, scripting, etc.
•To account and identify the discrepancies in the system, to assess the risks, and to implement solutions by adhering to the security standards
•Writing and modifying scripts for application deployments as well as system monitoring
•Developing and overseeing the backup, replication, clustering and fail over strategies
•Supervise and implement entire system upgrade strategies.
•Develop UNIX administration test plans and perform testing.
•Coordinate all activities with varied technical personnel as suitable.
•User administration (setup and maintaining account)
•Verify that peripherals are working properly
•Quickly arrange repair for hardware in occasion of hardware failure
•Monitor system performance

•Update system as soon as new version of OS and application software comes out

•Securing the systems by hardening as per industry standard
•Responsible for all aspects of standing up a server in a new or existing environment, as well as removing systems from an environment at the end of service life
•Roll out hardware and software to ensure optimal deployment of resources.
•Improve the efficiency and help standardize current processes
•Vendor contact for routine, documented incidents as well as operational problems
•Support the development and incorporation of best practices and approaches into the company´s processes and methodologies.
•Applying root cause operation break fixes and other proactive maintenance activities to keep the services up and running.
•Administration of VMware virtual machines, Windows Servers, Active Directory, and some Linux servers
•Maintain regular backups of all servers and verify validity of those backups.
•Identify, research, troubleshoot and resolve problems with hardware, software and systems.
•Ensure technical systems and solutions are operating efficiently, according to best practices, and maintain disaster recovery readiness at all times.
•Analyze performance, predict needs and growth, plan and recommend preventative measures.
•Identify areas of improvement and bring added functionality to the environment.
•Document and complete all changes in accordance with Change Management policies and procedures.
•Configure, test, and maintain Virtual infrastructure environment. .
•Provide Infrastructure services in all areas needed: storage networking, Operating System, server virtualization, system backup and restore, system and network monitoring, application installation and configuration.
•Assist with producing monthly, weekly and daily reports and infrastructure monitoring.
•Infrastructure management: Management of the infrastructure, including, but not limited to, VMWare virtual environment including scaling and tuning of virtualized server assets, right-sizing systems based on CPU/RAM utilization, installing hypervisor-level upgrades when needed, administrating physical load-balancing assets/solutions, etc.
•Management of corporate anti-virus software
•Windows Server administration, including Active Directory, group policy and WSUS
•Linux administration, including NFS, NIS and integration with Active Directory
•VMWare technologies, including ESXi, vCenter, vSphere, and Workstation
